Dway Lunkad
Dway is a multi-disciplinary artist, currently studying at the Rhode Island School of Design for his BFA in Sculpture and Film. Based out of Gurgaon, India, and Providence, RI, USA.
His work reflects on the relationships we have to the built environment and our own histories. The way our present deals with our past, the way we choose to tell the stories passed down through history, altering, distorting, and transforming in various ways, reveals what we value in our current episteme. These ideas that surround us have presence and biographies of their own.
Dway’s practice aims to navigate toward the questions that these ideas inspire. He engages with architecture, ideology, and the archeological while weaving narratives that connect the contemporary to the historical. Themes of displacement, identity, and culture often inform his process.
