Dway Lunkad is a multi-disciplinary artist working on building and questioning relationships between the built environment, its histories and our collective futures. With a specific eye towards material historicity and present cultural chronocentersism, he searches through narratives of global material dis-connectivity, urban/natural paradigms and the ways in which they impact populations across the world. Often interpreting systems of power and economy balanced with personal narratives of generational and familial complexity.
He engages with architecture, the archeological, and patterns of being while weaving tales that connect the contemporary to the historical. Displaying ideas through narrative and documentary filmmaking, sculpture, design projects, performance, drawing, and site specific writings and explorations, as well as a practice routed in environmental and sustainability research. Drawing from themes of Grief, Exploration, Empathy, and the Spiritual, he creates work that aims to share and create bonds between people, planet, and time, treating the intersections of all that is as transient spaces of knowledge and curiosity.
Dway holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, 2024, with a dual specialisation from the departments of Sculpture and Film, animation and video(FAV).
