It's magical when you realize you're on a journey that predates you. To speak to stone, a material defined by history and intervention, while feeling like one myself.
As I spent that time with West Rutland, Vermont, USA, it's hard to get away from the fact that I am from Gurgaon, Haryana, India, which isn't ever going to be the exact same but that's why it doesn't hurt to try to make it feel a little more connected.
These are the moments I can steal that help me hold onto that 16-year-old who went to Makrana, Rajasthan, and had wanted to carve marble ever since. Even if he didn't fully know it, that's where it all started.

Maybe someday West Rutland can meet Makrana, until then, we can hold onto this.
